In 2008, the Old Bar Beach Festival was officially opened by Di Morrissey and attracted over 16,000 visitors.

The official count for the number of Kombi's which gathered at Old Bar in an attempt to break the world record for the largest gathering of Kombis in one spot was 150. Unfortunately, this was due to Severe Weather Conditions on the East Coast of Australia.
